The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has released its highly anticipated 2024 report. According to the report, Ukraine ranks second only to the Syrian Arab Republic in terms of refugee numbers, with nearly 5.7 million individuals displaced. Of these, approximately 2.6 million Ukrainians have found shelter in neighboring countries such as Poland, the Republic of Moldova, and the Czech Republic. An additional 3 million have sought refuge in various European nations and beyond.

Germany is a primary destination for refugees in Europe, hosting around 2 million individuals, constituting 7% of the total global asylum seekers. The majority of refugees in Germany originate from Ukraine and the Syrian Arab Republic, highlighting the ongoing humanitarian crises in these regions.

The IOM report underscores the pressing need for international cooperation and support to address the needs of displaced populations, particularly those fleeing conflict and instability in Syria and Ukraine.
